The Chennai Super Kings players made the last IPL 2023 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium special by taking a lap after their game with Kolkata Knight Riders. MS Dhoni was the CSK captain who led the charge, throwing team tee-shirts and tennis balls in the stands. Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary cricketer, surprised Dhoni by his gesture.

Gavaskar, who was a little sneaky, asked Dhoni to sign his autograph as the Chennai players were walking along the boundary lines. Dhoni was stunned and could not stop grinning. Gavaskar was hugged by the former India captain and signed on his shirt.

On Sunday, Chennai played its last home match of IPL 2023. They faced KKR. The home crowd never stopped cheering the four-time champs even though they lost by six wickets. The players reciprocated by doing a lap-of-honor and thanking them for their support.

CSK may not play their last game at Chepauk, as they are expected to return in the playoffs. CSK will play either in the Qualifier 1 or the Eliminator at Chepauk.

CSK’s hopes of qualifying for Qualifier I are on a knife-edge

CSK’s chances of finishing in the top two and qualifying for Qualifier I were seriously damaged after Sunday’s defeat by Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK has one match left and can only reach 17 points. Mumbai Indians, who still have two games to play, could surpass CSK with 17 points.

The MS Dhoni led team has a good chance of making it to the playoffs, and winning their fifth trophy. The CSK skipper did not seem to be affected by the loss and didn’t single out a particular department. Dhoni claimed that the dew was the key factor. “I believe the dew was a major factor. Dhoni said that if you compare the first and second innings there was more spinner purchase in the first innings.
