Zoom has partnered with Anthropic in order to integrate its AI assistant into the platform. In a Tuesday post, the company announced that Anthropic’s chatbot Claude will be added to Zoom IQ, Team Chat, Meetings and Phone features.
Claude, a bot Anthropic released in March will not be available at first in all these features. Zoom will add the chatbot first to its Contact Center, which is a product that businesses can use for customer service. Zoom says that this will result in “better features for self-service” and guide customers to relevant solutions. The system will soon allow agents to access the necessary resources while serving clients.
The company has not said how it plans to implement Claude into other parts of the app. However, it is likely to use the assistant as a way to compete with and other productivity apps like Slack that are powered by AI. Zoom has a number of AI-powered features available via Zoom IQ. This assistant was built in partnership with OpenAI. ZoomIQ has been able to create summaries, message drafts and whiteboards using text prompts.
Zoom Ventures (a Zoom subsidiary that invests into startups) also announced it had made an investment in Google-backed Anthropic. Zoom claims that working with Anthropic as well as OpenAI strengthens its “federated” approach to AI.
Smita Hashim is Zoom’s Chief Product Officer. She says, “Partnering Anthropic furthers our commitment in providing our customers with our federated AI approach, optimized to deliver exceptional customer experience outcomes.” With our investment, Zoom is also advancing cutting-edge companies such as Anthropic, and driving innovation within the Zoom ecosystem.
