Mumbai Police has filed a FIR against a company that used the name, voice and photo of the legendary Sachin tendulkar to promote its product, without Master Blaster’s permission. The company wanted to sell fat-melting patches and sprays, as well as belly burner oil.

Ramesh Paradhe, Tendulkar’s personal assistant, filed the FIR. According to his FIR he came across the first product featuring Tendulkar in May.

“The advertisement for the stomach burner oil featured Tendulkar’s picture and also stated that it was ‘recommended by Sachin Tendulkar’. The link in the advertisement took me to a website for a company called Shyla Health. “I also checked the Instagram page of the company,” said he to the police.

Pardhe said that the company also had a website named after Tendulkar. He also said that he discovered an advertisement and audio on the Instagram of the company. He scrolled down and found the website for the company, Sachinhealth. Tendulkar was featured in the description of the spray. He claimed the ads also stated that buyers would receive a T shirt autographed by Tendulkar.

The accused was charged with cheating, forgery and defamation in accordance with the Indian Penal Code as well as the Information Technology Act.

Tendulkar currently serves as the Mumbai Indians’ mentor. He played for the franchise between 2008 and 2011, and led them to their first ever final in 2010. The MI team, led by Rohit Singh, will play their next match on Tuesday (16 May) against Lucknow Super Giants.
